Tour Overview
It’s a short 4 hour drive from Nairobi city to the big country sites of Amboseli National Park – think mighty Mt. Kilimanjaro and majestic herds of elephants (Jumbos). This park lies at the foot of Africa’s tallest mountain and the largest free-standing mountain in the world. Its famous form watches over the park and all its wildlife – four of the “Big Five” are found here.
There’s plenty of reasons Amboseli is such a popular park – we’ve already mentioned the photographic presence of Kilimanjaro, but did you know that this park may be the best place in Africa, if not the world for viewing free-ranging elephants? The light terrain of the park combined with the great numbers of elephants here guarantees you will see them as they parade in their imposing herds.
But just as impressive are the park’s other big game like buffalo, lion, cheetah, zebra and gazelle. Amboseli is a busy place and you’ll be checking off plenty of wildlife on your list. The park offers several wildlife environments, each with its own array of animals.
